Why did you decide to become a CPA? If there was a defining moment, tell us about it.

I became a CPA because of my passion for finance and strategic decision-making. Growing up in an entrepreneurial family, I gained an early appreciation for the financial challenges of running a business. This background, along with my education and professional experience, inspired me to pursue the CPA designation.

What attributes and skills are good to have as a CPA?

From my perspective, the most important skills for a CPA are attention to detail, time management, being an effective communicator, problem-solving, and the ability to assess and manage financial risks.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to become a CPA?

My advice to someone wanting to become a CPA is not to get discouraged, as the journey can be challenging. Stay focused, be persistent, and keep your long-term goal in mind. Earning your CPA designation will open many doors in business, finance, and accounting, providing great opportunities for your career.

What is your favorite thing about your current position?

As the Chief Financial Officer and Partner at Denton Floyd Real Estate Group, my favorite part of my job is seeing a project come to life. I love witnessing how it integrates into the community and positively impacts both the local economy and residents. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that our work contributes to providing quality housing, and I'm proud to be part of a team that plays such a vital role in making that happen.

What are some of your personal hobbies or a fun fact about you that you would like to share?

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, golfing and cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats.
